Hi Hannah,
I just started reading your book, & I noticed an error on page 9. Our hominin lineage separated from chimpanzees & bonobos 6 or 7 million years ago. Orangutans & gorillas branched off much earlier. We know this because there are particular insertions in the genetic code that are particular to chimpanzees, bonobos, & humans. The scenario that you suggest is not the most parsimonious & thus, unlikely.
